The Savants of Soul releases new retro-soul single, ‘Deliverance’ – Reignland

Gainesville’s 9-piece retro-soul and blues outfit The Savants of Soul is here with a new offering titled, ‘Deliverance’. The funky new single has such a cutting edge bass melody that will suck you into this incredible experience of blues and modern-day elements. The lead vocalist has strong vocals that deliver just the right amount of funk in each verse. He gives you that old school vibe and doesn’t miss, reminding me of a James Brown or Bobby King. The drum solo with the background choir is epic and really adds another amazing layer to the track. I also like the tambourine you hear in the right ear that is a small part but brings its own element to the song.

Their self-titled LP will be out September 18. Over the course of ten days, the band recorded 14 songs with acclaimed producer Vince Chiarito (Charles Bradley, Black Pumas) and engineer John Gifford III, Studio A manager, tenant and student of Rick Hall (Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Etta James), aka “the father of Muscle Shoals music.” 

The band has gained a surge of recognition on the national festival scene, including the Gasparilla Music Festival, RedGorilla Music Fest & SXSW. They’ve also shared bills with Benjamin Booker, Durand Jones & The Indications, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Original Wailers and the late Charles Bradley, who had also called Gainesville home. Their live sound and energy consists of an airtight rhythm section that summons the warmth, vibrance and nitty-gritty confluence of The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (aka The Swampers).
