PREMIERE: ZIMINY shares beautiful new track called “Venom” – Reignland

Los Angeles native and former member of Awolnation, avid Amezcua steps back into the spotlight with his latest solo effort, ZIMINY. The tender piano ballad “Venom” is raw, melodic, and showcases a different musical direction compared to earlier single releases. Great piano/keyboard playing that adds to the great vocals, this is so special. I love the lyrics too. The background harmony is wonderful.

Speaking on the track he says, “”This song is an important one for me. I’ve never been more vulnerable and honest with lyrics before. I had just fought with my wife, and I asked her for her forgiveness and said “I’m sorry my words were so poisonous tonight. My bite was venom.” The light bulb went off. I immediately wanted to write a song about it, sat down at the piano and “Venom” was created in about 20 minutes. My hope is that if someone who struggles with depression or mental health issues hears this song, they will feel less alone on their journey. I want to de-stigmatize mental health struggles and normalize getting help.”

Inspirations stem from the 60’s-80’s with artists like The Beatles, Elton John, The Doors, Toto, David Bowie, Chicago, and singers like Bill Champlin and Luther Vandross. Dave also finds inspiration in a lot current music as well like Cage the Elephant, Tame Impala, and yes, he remains a big fan of his old stomping ground, Awolnation.
ZIMINY’s debut album Love Language will be available on all streaming platforms Friday August 21. The collection features 10 tracks, co-produced by Kenny Carkeet (AWOLNATION, Fitness) and orchestration by the legendary Stevie Blacke (Pink, Rhianna, Lady Gaga).
