Swedish alt-pop duo Vola Tila, has released a new self-produced single titled, ‘Space Out’. This is the first single from their forthcoming debut album. It’s 60s psychedelic pop-inspired melody hooks you into whatever journey they are taking you on. The fuzzy guitar riff in the background helping to guide the haunting adlibs to create a retro feel like no other. The lead singers raw and heavy vocals are a perfect fit for the tone of this track.

”When you space out you gain perspective. And it becomes clear that you are observing what you thought was reality, except now you are seeing it for what it really is. Sometimes it makes you feel like an alien and you just want some company.”, they explain. The production is so rare and not too clean that it takes away the emotion of the song but it actually gives it a nice nostalgic finish.

They formed in 2018, after years spent hitmaking for major artists including US electronica outfit Passion Pit, Swedish songwriting and production duo Vola Tila stepped out on their own and released their acclaimed debut EP ‘Personality Apocalypse’ in September 2019, recorded in collaboration with Sonic Boom (MGMT, Beach House) and Charlie Storm (Håkan Hellström).

THE GAZE is back with Nik Navy to release, ‘too honest’. The GAZE is a collaborative music project of singer/songwriter Sam Cremean. The track has an atmospheric dark-pop melody with exceptional vocals to match it. The self-reflective lyrics are catchy and relatable. It reminds me of some Alt R&B with its dark effects and smooth production that sends you into a dream-like oasis.

Back in 2020 with a sophmore four-track EP, lighter, THE GAZE digs deep into a personal story of overcoming mental health issues. The experimental release features production by yes/no/maybe, NIK NAVY and Jay Millionaires. The EP will be released on Friday 7 August. ‘too honest’ is the second single from the release and is a raw account of relationships tested by acting out. I want more like this for sure. This is an inspiring track that has all the elements of an award winner. I love the positive lyrics, the music is great and it’s uplifting. I like the fact that this artist is choosing to share what he has learned in life. He let’s us know that we do have to work for what we want but it’s worth it. His punchlines are superior along with his ability to make a banger out of a cause. He’s angry and he has every right to be.
