Mulatto has defiantly shaken the rap game up over the last year with much success in her independent projects before signing with RCA. In her new freestyle, ‘No Hook’, she speaks on everything from the Rap Game, to her family life. Her Case

Mulatto was booked in 2019 for an alleged theft situation. On the track she says, “Dropped ten bands to beat a case that I ain’t do (Yeah) / How the fuck they book me for some shit with no proof? (Shit cap) / Bitch, I ain’t forgot how y’all was clownin’, but it’s cool / I’ma sue and gets the last laugh on ’em when I’m through” She made a freestyle titled “F**ck Rice Street,” expressing her innocence and anger toward the police after she was let go.

Her most recent relationship

Her latest public relationship was with rapper Bandit Gang Marco in 2017. The two dated for two years before ending things. She never fully came out with a statement or anything regarding it. However she finally was ready stating, “Two-year relationship, that nigga really owe me (Pussy) / Bitch, I want my time back, bruises, had to hide that / I thought I was pregnant, to this day, I’m thanking God for that” She then continues towards the end, “Shouldn’t have made the tape, he keep on threatenin’ to leak shit / I let a nigga break me, now I’m pickin’ up the pieces (Yeah)”

The Rap Game

For a long time, people wondered If Mulatto signed after winning the reality show and in her new single, she lets it be known that she did not stating in her lyrics, “Fuck the rap game, still happy I ain’t sign that / No sleep, when I land, headed straight to soundcheck” Mulatto turned down a deal with Jermaine Dupri and remained independent, releasing music and doing shows on her own accord before signing to RCA Records.

On Her Family

In the song, she speaks on the relationships within her inner circle. According to her lyrics, her brother is currently locked up making Mullato feel like a piece of her is missing. She also states her bond with her dad was broken due to money and the industry. On a good note, she states that her sister and thier bond are good and will always stay that way.

On her name ‘Mulatto“

For many years people have found that her name ‘Mulatto’ was offensive and she should change it. Mullato has always stated that she has taken on the name to redefine the meaning to something positive. Stating in the song, “As a kid, feelin’ too black for the white folks / Ain’t changin’ my name, disagree and you can die slow”

Fragile Gods has released a dark (weird) track called “Switch Off The Light” The New York-based band creates flowing retrosynth tunes with minimal arrangements and a unique vocal somewhere between spoken and sung that will put you back in the 80s. Singer-songwriter Alexa Ray reveals “Fearless” the title track off her next album, Fearless coming this Fall. In this track, she explains that being fearless means standing up for your dreams in spite of everything that might get in the way. This is the time of season when people are in the mood for giving, whether it’s warm hugs, hot cocoa, or the hustle and bustle of the shopping malls being filled with excited children visiting old St Nick. KOJ has finally released “Home” . This is the first song from KOJ since 2017. “Home” explores the idea of belonging and finding a home in yourself, that truly feels authentic. It’s about all the confusion and uncertainty that goes along with the search for meaning and purpose in life. Home is the first single of the upcoming album and the result of an intense songwriting and recording process.

KOJ about “Home”:

“Writing and recording Home has been one hell of a journey for us! The song existed in about five different versions already, but we just never seemed to get it to a state where it really felt right. The song is super important to us, as it explores the idea of belonging and what it really means to feel at home with yourself, so we dove deep into songwriting once again in early 2019 and finally recorded the version of Home that we had envisioned in our minds. Home was recorded entirely in our home studio in a very intimate setting. In that way we were able to bring out the essence of the song whilst working with a minimalistic set up to be able to hone in on the underlying emotions of the song.”

KOJ about shooting the music video for “Home”:

“Making the music video for Home was an exciting and creative process, since we did everything ourselves. Parts of the video were shot floating on a river in the middle of the rain, in other parts we were literally dragging our singer through marshy woods and then you have the scenes where we’re dancing in a studio set up… so I guess you could say that we’ve been through a lot in this video! We tried to be bold with the visuals and create two opposite worlds, one which is dark and haunting and another with lots of warmth and movement. The video depicts two opposite worlds. There’s the dark and haunting world where people are controlled by external forces, where they feel powerless and out of control over their own bodies. Then there’s the opposite world where the characters are free in their expression, where they are taking ownership of their own movement, of their bodies. In a way you could say that they are taking that which is working against them and letting it work in their favor. It’s a dance with the impossible. Home was shot entirely in our hometown. Makes sense, right?”
