JP Bayliss needs something stronger in new alt-R&B single. – Reignland

Indie New Zealand artist, JP Bayliss is looking for something stronger in his new alt R&B single, ‘Strong’. The trap-influenced dark R&B features infectious melodies and an intoxicating vocal range. The dark and haunting synth-wave reminds me of some of the Weeknd’s music. His flow in the chorus is reminiscent of Drake’s Scorpion cut “Can’t Take A Joke”. It describes a fast-paced night, with Bayliss juxtaposing the perceived highs and the lows of mixing substances with his growing status as an artist. His unapologetic lyrics create a sense of brutal honesty but honesty regardless. He lets you know what he wants from the beginning and If you decide to get on this ride, you know what you are in for.

His music exists between the boundaries of unabashed boastfulness & extreme melancholy.

After featuring on Quadeca’s 2016 album Nostalgia for the Now, Bayliss released his debut song Please Don’t Forgive Me in 2018 which quickly racked up over 50’000. He then followed up with Models which has proved to be his biggest hit to date. His debut album Party House was released in May 2019 to positive reception from blogs and fans alike with the album capturing the feelings and themes of the artist through the setting of a house party; the ecstatic and enhanced high’s as well as the drowning lows are the key themes with the artist’s desire for a consistent companion carrying the album’s storyline. Spotify Playlists New Music Friday AU & NZ and R&B Feels with the album clocking up over 100’000 streams.
