Ella Bee shares new single, ‘Chardonnay’ The sweet piano melodies create this atmospheric feeling of a cool breeze on a summer day. The vocals seem to have this fading effect that sounds haunting but calming at the same time. She takes you on a journey through her tough times making you really feel every emotion.
Speaking on the track, she says, “Chardonnay is a song that I hold very close to my heart. It was written about one of the hardest points in my life, at a time where I felt everything was meaningless and nothing was moving forward. It focuses on the mundanity of everyday life and how it’s just easier to drink it all away and forget about it rather than dealing with the issues at hand. “What is it with me today drinking chardonnay like it’s lemonade? Love the bitter taste of regret”
She continues, “It is about dealing with the aftermath of a failed relationship, how nobody at the time could compare to what I had before and how hard it is to see people from your past move on. I tried to capture how it feels when things change and all you want is for everything to go back to how it was before, but there’s nothing you can do. How the only way to make the days go by is to drown it away. I talk about my frustration with being stuck in a job that wasn’t going anywhere, having big dreams but feeling too down to try and fulfil them. Wandering and longing to go back in time to a place where you felt happy and human.
