Ruben Dawnson says F*** anxiety in new upbeat single, ‘FYALMA’ – Reignland

Rubman Dawson is making a strong debut with this brilliant new single titled ‘FYALMA’, standing for ‘Fuck You Anxiety Leave Me Alone’. The title alone is a whole mood. The melody is so freeing as it fuses old school Indie pop and modern R&B melodies that I can’t get enough of. His vocals are so effortlessly riding through the song like a breath of fresh air. I love the emotion he places in each note he sings still making the song lush but adding that aggression he feels toward anxiety. The beat takes the listener to a dreamy atmosphere where they don’t feel alone. Millions of people deal with anxiety and now you have anthem to help with it.

“This is by far the most liberating song I’ve ever written! It’s a big fuck you anthem to anxiety! Like many others I’ve been struggling with it for a long time… hopefully this can lift people’s spirit and I hope people will connect with it and scream out the lyrics!! I really want it to reach as many as possible and help create a big “fuck you” wave towards anxiety!! I know it won’t solve any deep issues people might have, but hopefully it can make someone feel less lonely.” , Ruben Dawnson explains.

Hailing from Norway, Ruben Dawnson is a young artist and producer determined to make a name for himself. His melancholic indie pop style, infused with raw honesty and emotion, echoes the thematic elements of his influences which include Frank Ocean, James Blake and Tyler, the Creator.

I added this to my playlist right away and so should you. I can’t wait to hear more.

MUST LISTEN: Alicia Clara debuts with lush nostalgic R&B track, ‘Closing Time at the Gates’ – Reignland

Montreal based singer-songwriter, Alicia Clara has got me hooked with her old school lush R&B debut, ‘Closing Time At The Gates” This is a beautiful blissful track that takes the listener into a dreamy atmosphere where they don’t want to leave. Her vocals are so light and sultry but also add such a delicate feel to the overall vibe of the song.

She spoke about the inspiration of the single, “My debut single, Closing Time at the Gates, is about feelings of confusion towards my hometown, about my love/hate relationship with it. I think everyone can relate on some levels – it’s feeling pressure from a group of people regarding our personal choices, yet needing the comfort of returning to them once in a while. It’s feeling inadequate, it’s belonging to no one, nowhere, everywhere. “

She continued, “The inspiration came to me when I was back home for a few weeks and got asked repeatedly by people I didn’t know very well, “When are you moving back here”? As if my final destination had to be my hometown – as if it was “closing time at the gates” soon. Hailing from three continents, to begin with (dad is Swedish-Peruvian and mum is Québécoise), I started questioning my own sense of belonging; was I doing the right thing? Was I betraying anyone? Where should I be? I was frustrated and upset at having to justify my whereabouts, at being seemingly tied down to one root—when I happen to have more than just one. I realized I’d been having this debate with myself—more than with anyone else—all my life, and being reminded of this confusion by others prompted me to write this track.” While this is my own version of the story, I felt the song would make sense to others too.

The track was produced in collaboration with fellow Montrealer Dylan Konrad Obront, who is one-half of duo Sorry Girls (Arbutus). They defiantly need to collab more and I need a full project of them.
