Don’t keep Jett Kwong waiting in new single + visual, ‘Tokyo Bath’ – Reignland
Jett Kwong has released a beautiful ballad titled, ‘Tokyo Bath.’ The beautiful visual filled with pink and purples hues showcases “a fantasy of transcendence.” “Imagine being an outsider at a Hollywood party”, she says. ” ..alone and soaking in an idyllic Japanese onsen. In the end, transcendence is the fantasy itself. ” She speaks of being an outsider and laughing at everyone else for being included but also wanting to be included, something we all can relate to. Jett looks exceptional in this and the modern dance routines you see throughout also captivating.
When asked about the track and video, she says;
” I wrote this over two trips to Japan. The initial idea came from lavender bathwater my first time in Tokyo. The second time around I traveled to an onsen in the mountains and was soaking in this beautiful outdoor pool in the mist, hoping to feel exalted or something.. of course, I didn’t, and actually felt kind of miserable.. but that in and of itself was sort of the transcendent moment! This is all coupled with a vision of a Hollywood party (specifically one in Laurel Canyon that Father John Misty might host…), and feeling excluded, laughing at the ridiculousness of it all… yet also feeling bad about NOT being included and wishing to have a piece of the pie. For the video, we focused on sex/racial tensions.”
Jett Kwong has garnered acclaim from the likes of Earmilk, LADYGUNN and The Line of Best Fit. Be sure to add this fantasy to your playlist and leave your feedback below.
